Question:
We are some young people in university, and we belong to a supplicant institution. One of our main aims has lately been gaining much information concerning educational and supplicant matters so as to start our supplicant career on strong basis. We, thus, want to know certain practical methods by which we can achieve our aim. May God reward you goodness.
Answer:
Praise be to God, and peace be upon Prophet Muhammad.
Supplication to the call of God is the most honored task in the entire world; it is a mission made especially for prophets and messengers of God. It is the most distinctive task that righteous and virtuous consider as their concern.
God has destined for the Islamic call to spread all over the universe and for its associates to increase in great numbers. The call has spread in various sectors, and different people have participated in doing this. Indeed, a blessing waking of such a call has taken place recently, and so has returned several people bake to their religion and faith.
A number of hinders, however, still stand on the way of the call. One of which is the small number of qualified persons to deal with such an educational call. This, accordingly, may lead some "good" people to grow up away from appropriate educational incubators, and this may have a sever effect on their behavior as well as their mental, scientific and educational formation. The call also suffers from the decrement of effective programs that help such qualified teachers. This is in addition to the old age of such supplicant teachers to the extent that they cannot be able to present or exchange pieces of information.
Thus, in the light of anti-Islamic trends taken place nowadays as well as problems and seductions of life, people working on Islamic missions have to make real and strong revival so as to strengthen the basis of God's call, bring up subsequent generations able enough to face such sever attack on the blessing call. Over here, I am to recommend certain focal points which I believe to prove significance for everyone who want to take the road of a supplicant. Such points are as follows:
First: Faith education aims at cleaning hearts: The first task of a supplicant is hearts. He has to teach people how to clean their hearts through worshipping God, and so teach others how to do the same. "Good" hearts are those that are washed out from all sorts of polytheism, externally or internally. They are those hearts that are free from seductions, and so receive God's orders with ultimate contentment.
Second: The most important fundamentals upon which a supplicant has to raise himself are to be divided into three inseparable ones:
1. True Faith: Each supplicant has to know the faith and the doctrine of the Sunni people very well to the extent that he has to absorb them.
2. Legitimate Science: A supplicant cannot teach people without learning necessary legitimate science. He has to comprehend what he says and what other people could tell him. God almighty says, " Say: This is my way by which I call for God, mine and my followers, using insight."
3. True Worship: A supplicant must teach himself how to do his religious duties and his supererogatory performances well. He must also strengthen his relation with God by praying in the middle and towards the end of the night. He has to wake up at night to read Quran, and to always remember God.
Third: Two Tools a supplicant has to possess: The first is patience. A supplicant has to be patient for the sake of his call no matter how he faces pains and hinders. The second is his certainty. He has believe in the call and be sure that God will never disappoint his "good" believers. God says, "We have made them leaders, guiding people in accordance to Our order as they have been patience and believed in Our verses."
Fourth: Choosing supplicants and teachers, following their trends and learning from them matters regarding the call and education so as to work accordingly: It is totally wrong for youth to follow individual trends in their supplication tasks or to depend on beginners of little experience and weak knowledge. This may cause youth to lose the correct path.
Fifth: The Behavior of a Supplicant is Known by his Scent and Reputation: Supplicants of bad reputation cause people to keep away from them. Thus, whoever wants to be a supplicant has to be a well-behaved person; he has always to keep asking about his weak points, and ask them advice.
Sixth: A believer who wants to be a supplicant has to follow all methods that wash out his heart and behave him. The most important method is real repentance and making sure never to return to any of the ill-deeds. He always has to think of the Day of Judgment through remembering death, renouncing worldly pleasures as all true believers do, crying out of fear from God as well as praying for God to accept him as a God-fearing, devout person.
